A Mobile Ammunition Disposal Unit (MEA-2E), equipped with an Off Gas Filter (OGF), is to be operated at Vertrex’s Oaklands facility in New South Wales.
The system will enable the disposal of complete munitions, fuses, detonators, sheet explosives, anti-personnel products, pyrotechnics and combat simulation items.
The MEA-2E provides for the detonation of the projectiles by induction heating in the confinement of a purpose-built heavy-duty chamber. The chamber can process up to 1.5kg of ‘raw’ high explosive and will process munitions up to 40mm in their manufactured form.
The MEA-2E has a state-of-the-art Off Gas Filter system designed to comply with current Australian environmental regulations.
