This includes the disposal of munitions and other hazardous goods, ammunition packaging management and large-scale storage capabilities.

Key aspects of the business

Vertrex is a key service provider to industry and defence clients. Our services include:

  • Small arms and medium calibre ammunition disposal
  • Disposal of hazardous goods and pyrotechnics
  • X-ray capabilities for ammunition fuzes
  • Waste Ordnance Flashing Furnace (WOLFF)
  • Ammunition box management, production and refurbishment

For nearly three decades, we have worked on various ammunition breakdown and disposal tasks for the Department of Defence, including most forms of small arms to medium calibre ammunition.

We also maintain the inventory of Defence’s most used ammunition packages. This project started in 2003 with 25,000 boxes. Today more than 900,000 boxes of this type are tracked throughout their lifecycle within the Defence system.
